Must Read Downburst!

Downburst (The Windstorm Series) Downburst (The Windstorm Series) by Katie Robison
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Ok, I have to say that I have a very talented slew of friends. How on earth did I get sooo lucky? Today I have to brag about my friend Katie. We were roommates in college and we always knew she was destined for greatness! Eventually we weren't surprised (although still extremely excited) when she would come home with yet another award! Or even worse, an extremely, extremely cute boy... maybe that was personal jealousy ;). Well my friends, she has done it again! But this time she has written and published her own book. I have read it and loved it and want to share it with all of you. I rated it on goodreads so I am posting the rating here. Do yourself a favor and read it! And feel free to check out her website. I hope you all enjoy the talents of my friend. Seriously, I should post more of their work. It's great! And now to the review.

When I first started reading Downburst, I had no idea what I was getting myself into. I knew nothing of the plot or the world created by Robison, and I'm so glad I didn't. I was completely sucked in from the beginning as the plot takes off running - literally! There is never a dull moment. Each chapter brings more excitement as you are dragged into a world so interesting you can't help but wish it were real.

The writing and literary tactics are excellent. I often found myself trying to figure out how everything fit together, but no matter how sure I was about my prediction, I was wrong. The story is fresh and put together masterfully. What I love about Kit's story is that she is thrown into her situation without any former knowledge of what she is getting into. What at thing to discover! I really started to wonder what I would do in her situation and if I would have the guts to pull it off like she did. Kit is a strong and relate-able lead. Robison has introduced us to refreshingly normal characters faced with extraordinary circumstances. I also love the insights I am starting to see in the series. There is a strong sense that we must all learn to live up to the potential that we are born with, no matter how uncertain our surroundings are. But further still, what are the consequences if we do?

I want you to discover the book on your own, so I won't say much more. But trust me, it is worth it! Enjoy it and pass it on! I personally can not WAIT for the second book.
